As Major League Baseball continues to investigate Monday’s bizarre expulsion of Aaron Boone, it is certain that Hunter Wendelstedt will face relatively mild punishments.
MLB has spoken with both Boone and Wendelstedt, the pitcher who sent the Yankees manager five pitches that ultimately resulted in a Bronx loss to the A’s.
Wendelstedt had threatened to expel Boone if the man spoke again.

After a spectator appeared to holler at the umpire from behind the dugout, Boone grew silent. Wendelstedt then threw Boone out.
The league believes the situation could have been handled differently, even without the ejection, and MLB will include the hasty and seemingly inadvertent hook in its overall assessment of Wendelstedt.
The league evaluates every umpire and utilizes that evaluation to determine who gets to referee postseason games and All-Star Games, as SNY first revealed on Wednesday.
These games and events bring in more money.
Obviously, Wendelstedt can still make up for a single poor grade, but he has already made a mistake.
Boone has conversed with MLB’s senior vice president of on-field operations, Mike Hill, and has been informed that he will not incur a fine.
