NBA management suspends Darko Rajakovic, the coach of the Raptors…..

The NBA fined Darko Rajakovic $25,000 (U.S.) on Thursday for his spectacular outburst that he had on Tuesday in Los Angeles following his team’s loss to the Lakers.

Taking no prisoners, the first-year head coach went after the league and the referees for what he saw to be unfair refereeing that cost his team a victory.

He takes particular issue with the game’s imbalance in free throws. With a score of 70 points in the first half, the Raptors appeared to be the more aggressive team.

Lakers centre Anthony Davis outmarched the entire Raptors team to the free-throw line, going there 14 times.

The disparity was most glaring in the final frame, during which the Lakers shot 23 free throws compared to just two for the Raptors.

“This is a shame. Shame for the referees, shame for the league to allow this,” an outraged Rajakovic said in the post-game news conference with reporters.

Using Scottie Barnes as an example, Rajakovic said it was incomprehensible that his all-star-calibre player, who plays with force and drives to the rim “without flopping,” could only get two free throws the entire game. Barnes played 40 minutes and finished with 26 points in the loss.
