2024 Patriots opponent’s starter abruptly retires at age 25
This season, one of the New England Patriots’ opponents will need to adjust after an expected starter decided to retire during training camp.
The offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles of the Tennessee Titans was placed on the reserve/retired list on Tuesday. Charles was a starter on the Titans’ depth chart and had been practicing at right guard with the first team offence, according to ESPN.
It surprises me that he’s retiring. Charles, who is 25, is about to start his fifth NFL season. Charles, a 2020 fourth-round selection, played his first four seasons in the NFL with the Washington Commanders.
Although Charles was first selected as a tackle, he spent his early seasons off the field. But he earned a starting position in Washington after switching to guard. During his last season in Washington, Charles made ten starts.
Tennessee finds itself in a bit of a bind after the migration. Daniel Brunskill and Dillon Radunz are reportedly in the running for the right guard position, which is currently open.
This year’s Week 9 game between the Patriots and Titans is scheduled. The teams will play each other on November 3 at 1 p.m.
