Prescott made hints about leaving Dallas when speaking with members of the media.
Prescott expressed his desire to play for the Cowboys for a very long time. According to CBS Sports’ Jett Beachum, the talented quarterback is also being realistic about his contract predicament.
After the 2024 season, Prescott is expected to become a free agent. If the Cowboys don’t sign him to a contract extension prior to the 2019–20 free agency period, that is.
Dak Prescott, who is thirty years old, can undoubtedly play at a high level for a number of more years. That being said, Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have some tough choices ahead of them.
CeeDee Lamb and Micah Parsons are also eligible for contract extensions, so Prescott is not the only player on the team in need of one. In addition, head coach Mike McCarthy’s contract expires at the end of the 2024 campaign.
We’ll have to watch to see how things work out. Jerry Jones and the Cowboys have not yet disclosed their plans regarding Dak Prescott. We have no idea if he will be available for free the following offseason.
However, Dallas might feel compelled to re-sign the seasoned quarterback if he has another outstanding season.
For the most part of his career, Prescott has been a reliable quarterback.
With him guiding the way, the Cowboys have been successful because he doesn’t turn the ball over very often.
However, Dallas hasn’t won a championship since 1996, so the team is desperate for a Super Bowl. Prescott had 38 total touchdowns, 4,516 passing yards, and a 69.5 percent completion rate in the previous campaign.
The Cowboys still have time to extend contract offers to Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Micah Parsons because training camp is just getting started. However, the front desk has so far shown patience.
Watch this space for any information pertaining to Dallas, its elite players, and head coach Mike McCarthy.
