SAD NEWS: The New York Yankees’chairman Hal Steinbrenner, passed away because of…
Hunter Wendelstedt will undoubtedly get comparatively light sanctions while Major League Baseball looks into Monday’s odd suspension of Aaron Boone.
MLB has had conversations with Boone and Wendelstedt, the pitcher who threw five pitches at the Yankees manager, which led to the team losing to the A’s in the Bronx.
Boone had been threatened with expulsion by Wendelstedt if he said any more.
Aaron Boone gets into a heated disagreement with umpire Hunter Wendelstedt during the Yankees’ game against the A’s after being dismissed.Jason Szenes wrote for the New York Post.
Boone fell silent as it seemed like someone was hollering at the umpire from behind the dugout. Then Wendelstedt threw Boone outside.
Even without the ejection, the league feels that the incident might have been handled differently, and MLB will take the hurried and ostensibly unintentional hook into account when evaluating Wendelstedt overall.
As SNY first disclosed on Wednesday, the league assesses each umpire and uses that assessment to decide which umpire gets to officiate postseason games and All-Star Games.
These activities and events generate higher revenue.
Wendelstedt has made a mistake already, but he can obviously still make up for one bad rating.
After speaking with Mike Hill, senior vice president of on-field operations for MLB, Boone has been told that he won’t be fined.
