The English Football League Championship team Derby County F.C. has acquired Freddie Turley from Shamrock Rovers Football Club.
After honing his skills at Bray Wanderers AFC and St. Joseph’s AFC, Freddie joined the Hoops in June 2021. Primarily playing as the SRFC Academy’s number six, Freddie demonstrated remarkable versatility, showing his ability to excel as an attacking midfielder, center defender, and wide defender.
His flexibility and skill made him a valuable asset to the team. In his first year with the Hoops, Freddie was part of the Under-15 team, playing alongside talented teammates such as Cory O’Sullivan, John O’Sullivan, and Cian Dillon.
His dedication and hard work saw him progress to represent the Hoops at the Under 17 and Under 19 levels, showcasing his development and potential.
Originally from Bray, County Wicklow, Freddie’s family later relocated to Rathfarnham, where he continued to pursue his footballing ambitions.
This year, Freddie returned to Bray Wanderers on loan, gaining valuable experience in the First Division.
During his tenure at Shamrock Rovers, he accomplished a number of noteworthy feats, one of which was representing the Republic of Ireland at the Under 15, 16, 17, and 19 levels.
A notable highlight of his career was captaining Ireland at the 2023 UEFA Under-17 Championship Finals in Hungary, a testament to his leadership and talent.
Freddie balanced his athletic pursuits with academic commitments through the Ashfield College-Shamrock Rovers Education Program, demonstrating his dedication both on and off the pitch.
