The £68 million playmaker Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace is a target for Manchester City.
With Saudi team Al-Ittihad offering a lucrative deal to 33-year-old Kevin de Bruyne, Pep Guardiola’s reigning champions are considering their options. Spurs, seeking greater talent between the lines, are interested in the impressive 26-year-old Eze.
The north Londoners, however, would be helpless to stop the player from giving in to the allure of the Etihad if City pursued their interest. Ever since Eze emerged as one of the Premier League’s biggest talents outside of the top four, City has been admiring him.
With a release clause of £60 million plus add-ons, he still has three years left on his Palace contract. He cannot go for less than the south London club will permit. particularly after Bayern Munich lost Michael Olise, another one of their budding prospects.
Due to his versatility and low maintenance temperament—he can play multiple positions—the defending champs are especially impressed. Despite having an injured campaign last season, he was excellent for Palace. He helped Oliver Glasner’s team to a tenth-place Premier League finish with 11 goals and 4 assists.
Al-Ittihad and De Bruyne are anticipated to reach an agreement.
The Pro League team, which already has Fabinho and Karim Benzema among its star players, has named Frenchman Laurent Blanc as its new manager.
De Bruyne has acknowledged that as his career comes to an end, a lucrative deal in Saudi Arabia would be difficult to turn down after 382 games, 102 goals, 170 assists, and 15 championships for City.
I have one year left on my contract, so I have to think about what could happen,” he said to Het Laatste Nieuws last month. At eight years old, my eldest child has never left England. How long will I play for City, he also asks? When the time comes, we’ll need to handle it in a particular manner.
