ESPN NEWS: Man Utd decides on Sofyan Amrabat’s contract after rejecting the transfer clause…….

Manchester United will not be signing Sofyan Amrabat permanently

Manchester United have decided against triggering their option to sign Sofyan Amrabat permanently this summer.

Amrabat, 27, signed for the Red Devils in an initial loan deal after impressing for Morocco at the 2022 World Cup, however, he endured an indifferent season in the Premier League.

As part of the deal that United negotiated with Fiorentina last summer, the club had the option to sign Amrabat permanently for £21.5million – but it emerged earlier this month that United were unlikely toexercise said option.

And with United now being linked to other defensive midfielders, Tutto Mercato Web claimed that they will not be signing the playmaker.

The Italian outlet claim that United have informed both Amrabat and Fiorentina that they will not make an offer for the midfielder, who will now report to pre-season training with the Serie A outfit.

Despite a lack of clarity over his future in recent months, a recent report indicated that Amrabat had not given up hope of a return to Old Trafford in the future. That now seems unlikely but there are other clubs who remain interested in him, some of whom are in the Premier League. A previous report from Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) suggested he could now leave Fiorentina for just €15m (£12.7m) this summer.

Manchester United are still expected to sign a new defensive midfielder this summer amid doubts over Casemiro’s future at the club and a number of names have been linked with the Red Devils in recent weeks.

Amrabat has other Premier League suitors and could still leave Fiorentina permanently this summer

Paris Saint-Germain’s Manuel Ugarte appears to be United’s primary target, although Martin Zubimendi and free agent Adrien Rabiot are also players being considered by the club hierarchy.

Further outgoings are also expected given United’s need to raise further funds after spending in excess of £85m on deals for Joshua Zirkzee and Leny Yoro. The Red Devils have already sold Donny van de Beek, Willy Kambwala and Mason Greenwood since the summer transfer window officially opened last month.

It’s thought that the majority of Manchester United’s squad would be available at the right price bar a handful of first-team stars and promising youngsters. If United can raise more funds through player trading it’s anticipated they will try and sign another central defender and the club retains an interest in both Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite.
