The Texas Longhorns’ 2025 recruiting class, which is already ranked in the top 15 in the country, is getting better every day after they signed four-star EDGE Smith Orogbo on Monday. But for Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns, the week is only beginning as four-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn is scheduled to declare his commitment on Saturday, July 6.
According to Rivals, Pettijohn is the top-ranked LB in the class and the 33rd best player overall in the recruiting cycle. After receiving offers from nearly all of the nation’s top universities, Pettijohn has down his list of options to Texas, Texas A&M, USC, and Ohio State.
Given that he is a native of Texas, many observers believe the Longhorns have the upper hand in winning his pledge. Pettijohn would be the icing on the cake for the Longhorns, who have focused a great deal of effort on the defensive end of the ball during the past two seasons. Pettijohn has a strong likelihood of receiving a fifth star this autumn, in my opinion.
