Douglas Luiz, a Brazilian midfielder for Aston Villa, might be acquired by Juventus, boosting Manchester City’s summer revenues to £30 million. The club has not yet made a major transfer window move.
Luiz is rumored to be close to completing a £42 million move from Villa Park, as sources indicate he is linked to a high-profile move abroad. City’s transfer budget might be increased by nearly £5 million thanks to the sell-on clause from Luiz’s 2019 move.
This prospective windfall comes after City earned £25 million previously from Tommy Doyle and Taylor Harwood-Bellis pre-agreed deals.

Should Juventus finalize a rumored £42 million purchase for Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz, Manchester City may make over £5 million.
All summer long, the Brazil international has been connected to a high-profile move away from Villa Park, and current rumors indicate Juventus is nearing a deal. Although Luiz is presently serving abroad, it is rumored that Juventus is close to completing a transfer to get his services.
Having left City in 2019 without making a single appearance, Luiz has turned down Arsenal twice, although the Blues have a sell-on clause in place to allow them a say in any upcoming transfers. A buy-back option that was not activated by the city expired in 2021.
Luiz was recruited by City in 2017 for an estimated £10 million, but the midfielder was not allowed to play because he was not given a work permit to enter the UK. After two years on loan at Girona while City filed appeals with the Home Office, they were compelled to sell him, and Aston Villa bid about £15 million for him.
In addition to the buy-back option, City included a sell-on clause in the agreement that is thought to be worth 20% of any future earnings Villa produces. Thus, if the £42 million estimate is accurate, £5.4 million, or 20% of Villa’s £27 million profit, would be added to City’s budget.
By selling Tommy Doyle to Wolves and Taylor Harwood-Bellis to Southampton in pre-arranged agreements, City has already made £25 million this summer.
