Trade Talks Heard by Steelers WR

Pittsburgh The Pittsburgh Steelers have been transparent about their intention to sign a second wide receiver who can make big plays. Following George Pickens, the team’s de facto number one, there has been a sharp decline in output and talent since Diontae Johnson was traded.

The current receiving room of the Steelers has drawn attention, with general manager Omar Khan reportedly in on every receiver on the block and a trade still feeling likely. Not only have they noticed, but it appears that the five men vying for the final four receiving spots are becoming more competitive due to the discussion.

Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III provided some thought-provoking statements regarding the circumstances when they spoke to the media this week.

According to Austin, we can hear it for sure. We recognise that this is a business at the end of the day. Going out on the pitch and putting on a show is the only thing we can control. We would be lying, after all, if we claimed it didn’t inspire or challenge us.

We want to demonstrate that we have what we need, but we’re still willing to go out there and take whatever necessary action. In the end, we won’t be responsible for it. It’s good if we bring someone. It’s good if we don’t. We will be prepared to play against the Falcons, regardless of the situation.

Austin might see a significant increase in his responsibilities this season. His agility and big-play potential might be a benefit to Arthur Smith’s new attacking strategies. He will compete for more snaps at the slot as he is most likely this team’s number three.

Van Jefferson, a free agent signing, is currently the most likely option to start the first week as the number two receiver. Even so, he is aware that things aren’t set in stone, particularly in light of the persistent rumours.

It goes without saying that I am very confident in myself. Evidently, Jefferson told reporters, “I think I can accomplish those goals.” However, in the end, I have to work hard to have the chance to earn that. Nothing is delivered to me; it is not given. I feel comfortable doing that there.

The Steelers could yet make a trade or take other action, but for now, their receiving group is doing business as usual. Each player is very aware that there is still competition among the receivers who are currently on the roster. Even if Omar Khan isn’t quite finished with his magic, it’s inspiring their current group to strive for even more.
