Even though New York has dropped its previous two games, it is still among the American League’s top three teams with 19 wins so far this year. The Yankees are regarded as one of the best teams in baseball, and with 2023 American League Cy Young Award winner Gerrit Cole getting closer to making a comeback, they should get even better soon.
The Yankees could still use another pitcher to support the back end of the rotation, even with Cole back. According to Adam Weinrib of the Yanks Go Yards, Erick Fedde, the starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, is one player who might be available for trade to New York.

In an otherwise dismal season for the White Sox, Fedde has been excellent. With six starts under his belt this season, the seasoned pitcher has a 2.60 ERA and a 39-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 34 2/3 innings of work.
This is the kind of player who, although not being very well-known, might be very helpful in the closing stages of the season and in the postseason. As a potential World Series contender, New York could use all the assistance it can get at this time.
