On Tuesday night, a former four-star prospect who played his freshman season for the SEC’s Georgia Bulldogs revealed his commitment to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The transfer portal has the power to take away, but it can also provide.
The 6-foot-4 wide receiver Tyler Williams, who redshirted at Georgia in 2023, confirmed his pledge on social media on Tuesday, only one day after sharing an Instagram picture of the Mississippi River taken from the University of Minnesota campus.
Williams was ranked No. 68 in the county by On3, No. 103 nationally by 247Sports, and No. 68 by On3 in 2023. He was described as a “big play machine” in his 247Sports scouting report, which also predicted that he would become a Power Five starter and perhaps even an NFL Draft pick.
Williams may have a fantastic chance to make an immediate impact in 2024. Alongside 2023 top receiver Daniel Jackson, he joins a group of less experienced receivers that also includes Le’Meke Brockington, Elijah Spencer, Kristen Hoskins, Jaylen Varner, and Cristian Driver.
