Though there aren’t as many game-changing superstars in the 2024 spring transfer portal as there were in the autumn, that doesn’t mean they won’t be moving. A top quarterback recruit for 2023 paid the Georgia Bulldogs a visit on Tuesday. Jaden Rashada, a former quarterback for Arizona State, traveled to Athens to see if he might start for the Bulldogs in 2025.
Rashada was selected as an impact transfer prospect by head coach Kirby Smart, and the Bulldogs have been searching for a fourth scholarship quarterback. Last year, 247Sports listed the former 4-star dual-threat quarterback among the top six quarterbacks.
Last autumn, Rashada participated in three games before an early season-ending thumb injury. Just 53.7% of his passes were completed, resulting in 485 yards, four touchdowns, and three interceptions. On 14 carries, he gained 23 yards in the rush.
As a former Florida Gators recruit who was expected to receive about $14 million in non-taxable income from The Gator Collective, he created a stir. Nevertheless, Rashada promptly decided to enroll at Arizona State after the third-party company was unable to fulfill the financial commitment. Even though head coach Kenny Dillingham is a promising quarterback developer and the Sun Devils will still require a quarterback in 2024, Rashada is once again on the move.
Rashada will not be able to start for the Bulldogs until 2024 or possibly after. Although Carson Beck will graduate after 2024, he is perhaps the top quarterback in the country coming into next season. Rashada will immediately face competition for the backup spot from Ryan Puglisi and Gunner Stockton if he commits.
When the 6’4″, 185-pound player was a high school athlete, Georgia didn’t actively recruit him. Georgia was attempting to sign Arch Manning instead, and the Bulldogs lost a guy when they passed on the five-star quarterback. In the event that Rashada is not set on starting straight away, the Bulldogs will present him with a compelling case.
If the redshirt freshman arrives in town, offensive coordinator Mike Bobo can select his preferred offensive scheme because the pocket passer is more similar to Beck than Stockton. Rashada’s accuracy and lower body aren’t always in sync, despite his strong arm. This is a common issue among rookie quarterbacks.
However, this could be a significant signing. Despite his low numbers, Rashada’s athletic prowess was evident in the limited footage we viewed. He would make an outstanding transfer, and the Bulldogs might have scored a steal.
