The story also states that the Twins want to bring back each of Rocco Baldelli’s staff coaches in 2024.
It is noteworthy that the Twins led all of baseball in strikeouts in 2023; however, it is not unexpected given their current season’s success.
They also shared the American League lead in home runs and came in second for walks. The narrative quoted above claims that the club is willing to trade some “whiff” for power and constant activity on the bases.
“You want balls hit on the barrel, hard, and baserunners,” said Baldelli. “That is the goal. Those are the two things we want above all else.
It’s also critical to keep in mind that Baldelli said the offense would undoubtedly become better if the team could get full seasons out of Carlos Correa, Royce Lewis, and Byron Buxton in 2024. Buxton and Lewis lost a significant amount of the three players’ time on the injured list during the previous campaign. This season, Correa’s on-base percentage fell to.312 and his hitting average to.230, despite playing with a foot ailment.
