Good news : It was officially confirmed that Man City is currently the only side in Europe to………….

Man City creates history by going to the FA Cup semifinals six times running.

HoldersWith a 2-0 victory over a lackluster Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, two deflected goals from Bernardo Silva made Manchester City the first side in history to advance to six successive FA Cup semifinals.

Despite making five changes from the starting lineup for their 1-1 Premier League match with Liverpool the previous weekend, City easily advanced to the round of four with Newcastle offering little opposition.

In the thirteenth minute, Silva’s shot gave City the lead as it deftly veered off Dan Burn, a Newcastle defender, tricking goalkeeper Martin Dubravka and bouncing into the net.

The Portuguese playmaker Silva scored the team’s second goal in the 31st minute, cutting in from the right and putting the ball past Dubravka with the assistance of Sven Botman’s head.

In the 36th minute, Alexander Isak came dangerously close to tying the score, but Stefan Ortega made a fantastic save to his left to block the Swedish striker’s rebounding attempt. That turned out to be Newcastle’s lone shot on goal during the match.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe became impatient with his struggling team just after the hour mark and made four replacements. The home team immediately readjusted, even though Miguel Almirón’s arrival offered the visitors a much-needed burst of inventiveness in their attack.

Both Jérémy Doku and Erling Haaland had numerous opportunities to score, but their carelessness in front of goal won’t bother manager Pep Guardiola much because his team dominated the visitors from beginning to end.

“The team played well, we did exactly what the coach wanted us to do and we scored some nice goals, we scored some important goals, we defended well, we attacked well, so very happy,” Doku stated to the BBC.

“We were in control but you never know, you always have to be careful with counter-attacks … but I think the defenders did very well and we came back to help them as well,” he said.

The semifinal draw will take place following Sunday’s remaining quarterfinal matches between Chelsea and Leicester City and Manchester United and Liverpool. City will face Coventry City, who shocked everyone by defeating Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-2 earlier in the day.

With this loss, Newcastle’s chances of taking home trophies this year are gone.
