David Bakhtiari traded, Breece Hall harassed, and the Jets coach joined the Patriots.
Breece Hall, a running back with the NY Jets, is merely attempting to enjoy his summer. Regretfully, some haughty and conceited admirers don’t seem to care.
Last Sunday, at Newark International Airport, Hall got into a fight with a fan. Carl Banks, a former player for the New York Giants, had to intervene and diffuse the situation. Although the actual cause of the argument is unknown, it appears to have started when a rowdy fan ran back and demanded an autograph from the celebrity.
Hall clarified the situation on social media on Monday, saying the fan had been “harassing” him at baggage claim. Later, a number of Jets players supported their teammates on Twitter.
Hall deserves praise for handling the issue with remarkable composure, and Banks deserves praise for advocating for his less experienced colleague. To all fans looking for an autograph, please remember not to bother athletes in public.
This offseason, the Jets made a few small adjustments to their coaching staff, and one of those adjustments was the team’s separation from running backs coach Taylor Embree. Finding a new home didn’t take Embree long.
Embree was able to stay in the AFC East and coach the biggest adversary of his previous team, the New England Patriots, after the former Jets assistant was formally named the organization’s new running backs coach on Monday.
Embree played with the Jets for three seasons before making his staff debut in 2021 under Robert Saleh. He assisted in managing the growth of Breece Hall, who was fourth in the NFL in terms of scrimmage yards the previous year.
In 2024, the Jets appointed Tony Dews, a former assistant coach with the Tennessee Titans, to replace Embree. Even though Bill Belichick is no longer in charge, a former Jets coach will still be in charge in New England come football season.
The Jets were one of the five moves that Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay recently explored that would keep the Kansas City Chiefs from winning another Super Bowl.
In addition to suggesting the Jets trade for Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders, Kay also mentioned the possibility of acquiring David Bakhtiari, the left tackle from the Green Bay Packers.
Though the Adams deal seems unlikely, Bakhtiari’s landing with the Jets seems nearly certain. Kay got the former All-Pro lineman traded to the Packers by the Jets for a seventh-round pick in 2024.
Though it’s important to remember that Bakhtiari is anticipated to come in the upcoming weeks, the coupling makes sense. The Jets would be foolish to acquire Bakhtiari on his current contract and give up an asset in exchange.
