Nick Sirianni of the Eagles lost control following the suspension of Big Dom.
The Philadelphia Eagles may have been more affected by chief security officer Dom DiSandro’s suspension than many initially believed.
To what extent did the Philadelphia Eagles’ absence of Dom DiSandro affect them in their final six games? Pardon the pun, but there’s a large response.
The team’s head security officer, “Big Dom,” was suspended following the Week 13 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers, in which DiSandro gained notoriety for a brief incident with Niners linebacker Dre Greenlaw on the Philadelphia bench.
The Eagles’ terrible season-ending run began with this defeat, but according to claims from Derrick Gunn of JAKIB Sports, “Big Dom’s” ban also had a big influence on the team’s 1-5 finish to the season.
“Big Dom suspended-controls Sirianni’s emotions on the sideliness; Nick got into a lot of confrontations with players and coaches during games,” tweeted Gunn.
Disandro and Greenlaw were both sent off the field as a result of their altercation on the Eagles’ sideline, and the NFL suspended the team’s security guard for the balance of the regular season.
What happened after that strange 42-19 loss to the Niners was just as strange. The Eagles appeared to be following the same path after beginning the season with an excellent 10-1 record, but they lost five of their next six games before falling to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 32-9 in the NFC Wild Card playoffs.
“Big Dom” was back on the Eagles sidelines for that playoff game after serving his suspension, but even he was unable to turn around the Eagles’ season.
Ultimately, DiSandro’s suspension had little effect on the season that was already predicted to be a loss, despite the alleged negative effects on Sirianni.
It will take time to see if the Eagles can recover. In 2024, “Big Dom” will most likely return to the sidelines. Vic Fangio and Kellen Moore, their new coordinators, will be looking to turn around their respective squads.
