Todd Bowles, the head coach of the Buccaneers, receives candid feedback from Bruce Arians.

Bruce Arians, a former head coach of the Buccaneers, offered his opinions on Todd Bowles’ actions.

Before the 2019 season, Bruce Arians announced his resignation as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach. He spent his first season as head coach attempting to create a culture that would reflect winning, but he wasn’t able to fully develop the winning and culture he desired until his second season, when the Bucs were able to entice Tom Brady to Tampa Bay.

After just three seasons as the Buccaneers’ head coach—during which he won a Super Bowl in 2020—Arian announced his retirement and named former defensive coordinator Todd Bowles as his replacement.

After a lackluster tenure as head coach of the Jets in New York, Bowles was given another opportunity to be an NFL head coach when he was hired by the Bucs. With a loaded roster at his disposal, Bowles couldn’t have been in a better situation.

Although not everything has been perfect since Bowles replaced Arians as head coach, the Bucs have won two NFC South titles under his leadership, advanced to the postseason, and even prevailed in a postseason game this past season. Mentor and former head coach Arians discussed Bowles’ performance thus far in his Buccaneers tenure with Scott Reynolds of Pewter Report.

Regarding Bowles’ performance, Arians stated, “I think terrific, the way he weathered through the storms this year and kept that club together.” “It takes time to adjust to a new quarterback, system, and play-callers. He continued it. Being the first NFC club to make it to the playoffs four times in a row and winning the division are very impressive accomplishments.

Bowles has encountered a good deal of hardship. His Bucs team has had to cope with a less-than-ideal wage cap scenario from the Tom Brady era, hire new coordinators, and replace the greatest quarterback in history, but he has surmounted those challenges. Over his two seasons in Tampa Bay, he now has a 17-17 regular-season record and a 1-2 postseason record.

The Bowles in Tampa Bay won’t find things much easier because they have one of the hardest schedules starting in 2024 and will once again be adding an offensive coordinator. If everything goes as planned, Bowles will field one of the best teams in the league once more and try to build upon the groundwork he has laid.
