A year to cherish four incredible experiences provided by the Twins in 2023.
Even though the Twins had some incredible moments this season, it would be impossible to discuss the team without acknowledging the events of October.
The Twins quickly handled Toronto by winning the series, particularly game two, when they shut out the Toronto offense. Minnesota had finally drawn a team other than the Yankees for the postseason.
The Twins’ 19-year losing record came to an end with this series victory, their first postseason series win since 2002. It had been a black cloud hanging over the team. Nevertheless, the caller’s voice stood out as a delightful cherry on top.
ESPN Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay and former Yankee Alex Rodriguiez called this series. For several years, Kay has called Yankee series victories over the Twins while working for the YES Network. But this time, he’s referring to a marginally different situation. You can hear the joy in his voice as he makes the call, which is very cool.
Hearing Cory Provus make the call on Twins Radio was one thing, but it was a surprising plot twist to hear a third party, and one so closely tied to the postseason suffering, make the call with such glee.
It was a fantastic day for Twins Territory and a superb call from Kay!
We got to see a lot more amazing moments in 2023, and it’s safe to say that the year will end on a high note as we look forward to even bigger things in the coming year.
Considering that, there’s no better way to start the year than to watch Twins closer Jhoan Duran exit the bullpen and take the mound. The Twins will bring power in 2024, and this is an exhilarating entrance.
