Following their loss in the Super Bowl, the Bengals signed head coach Zac Taylor to a contract extension through 2026.

The Bengals, who just made their first Super Bowl trip in thirty-three years, announced that head coach Zac Taylor has signed a contract extension that runs through the 2026 season.

The longest current drought in the four major North American sports came to an end when Taylor, 38, assisted Cincinnati in winning its first playoff game in 31 years. Taylor’s Bengals, who were hired prior to the 2019 season, finished 2-14 in 2019 and 4-11-1 in 2020. With quarterback Joe Burrow in his second year, they turned things around in 2021, finishing 10-7 and winning the AFC North for the first time since 2015 on their way to an unlikely Super Bowl berth. Taylor’s former team, the Rams, defeated Cincinnati 23–20.

In a statement, Bengals president Mike Brown said, “I am delighted with Zac’s attitude and the commitment and enthusiasm he brings to the building and to our players.” “And I believe that Cincinnati views him similarly to how the players and I do. He should be commended and given credit for bringing excitement to the community.
