According to the Liverpool Echo, Farhad Moshiri has returned to managing Everton behind the scenes in recent weeks, despite the uncertainties surrounding 777 Partners’ takeover.
The news agency claims on their website (February 21) that although the Iranian billionaire has been involved in the Toffees’ operations “prominently” in recent weeks, he is still hesitant to invest more of his personal money in the company.
Since the agreement to purchase Moshiri’s interest was finalized, 777 Partners has loaned the club £180 million to aid with operating expenses; however, the Premier League has not yet approved the deal.
“777 Partners has now loaned the club approximately £180 million for working capital since the takeover agreement was first announced. Moshiri, who is believed to have returned to the fold more prominently behind the scenes in recent weeks, isn’t willing to commit more of his own money to the club,” they wrote.
Everton: The worst dream realized?
At this point, Everton supporters are living nightmares since the team erupted in celebration upon learning that Moshiri was effectively out of the picture.
However, given that it’s obvious that there are serious problems with 777 Partners and their suitability as owners going forward, it might end up being the best move for the club in the long term.
Fans are unlikely to find satisfaction in a solution including Moshiri and 777 Partners; therefore, it could be preferable to deal with the devil we already know rather than having a completely new problem arise.
In the end, Moshiri’s continued involvement behind the scenes without a financial commitment presents a serious issue, underscoring the urgency with which the Premier League must decide on ownership as soon as feasible.
